P.S. I recommend you continue to get intimate with Chicago Manual of

Style, or Strunk and White's "Elements of Style." This means not just

typing something once or twice, and cutting and pasting from a software

program, but reading your writing out loud in your mind and imagining

whether you would understand and be pursuaded if the material were new

to you. Then rewriting, rewriting, rewriting, until it looks as good as

what you see in a good journal article. Good writing takes a tremendous

amount of effort from the writer, but should be realatively effortless

for the reader--or at least as effortless as is possible given the

difficulty of the material that is being covered. This means checking,

rechecking, and rechecking again for the flow, progression of ideas,

macro organization, micro organization, punctuation, no spelling errors,

no extraneous spaces or lack of spaces(!), two spaces after a period,

removing excess words, logic, simplicity, and attending to your voice

which comes through in writing.

家园 two spaces after a period

家园 为啥要two spaces after a period呢?

"The only reason that two spaces were used after a period during the 'typewriter' age was because original typewriters had monospaced fonts -- the extra space was needed for the eye to pick up on the beginning of a new sentence. That need is negated w/proportional space type, hence [it is] the typographic standard."

所以说我们现在写email的时候好像不再需要two spaces after a period。

I recommend you continue to get intimate with

I recommend that you (do)...

第二个疑问,不那么有把握 --- continue to do something.

continue to take 返回1,290,000项。
