FDA举了几个转基因食品标注不会引起误解的例子："Genetically engineered" or "This product contains cornmeal that was produced using biotechnology."
这里面Genetically engineered和biotechnology就是转基因的意思。
关于非转基因标注的部分说的是：
FDA同样给了非转基因食品标注不会引起误解的例子："We do not use ingredients that were produced using biotechnology;"
"This oil is made from soybeans that were not genetically engineered;" or
"Our tomato growers do not plant seeds developed using biotechnology."
所以在美国，非转基因食品的标注可以是not genetically engineered，而不是什么GMO-Free，GM-Free，因为后面两个标识美国老百姓纷纷表示看不懂。

科学新闻和南方周末看得是哪份指南呢？原来在指南里关于非转基因食品标注有这样一些话：A statement that a food was not bioengineered or does not contain bioengineered ingredients may be misleading if it implies that the labeled food is superior to foods that are not so labeled.

转基因技术毫无疑问是生物技术的一种，但反过来生
物技术的面太大太广了吧。
家园 MO是biotechnoogy的一部分 如果biotechnoogy被规定限制或者不限制，那么MO就应该被限制或者不限制。楼主的翻译可能不精确，但是对FDA条文中关于转基因部分的解读是正确的。

这是很让我 ft 的事，FDA 肯定成天跟律师打交道吧，
这么不严格。。。
不过我还是不认同搂主的观点。
