[Warm Heart Initiative] Bring Warmth to the Snowstorm Victims in China

Dear fellow Chinese,

This is a letter from several Chinese students studying in the U.S.

As you have already heard, East and South China have been suffering from severe

weather conditions since mid January. 80 million people are affected, about

150,000 houses collapsed, power lines are damaged, and many provinces and

cities do not have electricity supply… As overseas Chinese, we might not be

able to offer direct aids, but there are many alternative things we can do, as

long as we care for our home country and her people.

We have started an initiative called "Warm Heart" and have built a group called

"Snow Storm in China" on Facebook as a preliminary site to update news and

information about the snowstorms and seek ways of donations. Now, you are

invited to join us and do the following things:

1. Let the world know about this!

Please forward the message to your friends, your community or group email

lists, post this message on your own blog, post it on the BBS forums you go to.

Try to let everybody around you know, no matter they are Chinese or not.

3. Donate

Yes, this is the most effective way to offer our help, given that we are living

overseas. Unfortunately, we have not found any trustworthy charities in the

States which receive donation for the Snowstorm victims in China. However, we

do think the World Vision (Hong Kong) is a trustworthy and efficient NGO that

we can count on so far. As one of the most influential charities in the world,

World Vision has already made a quick response to this disaster by committing

HK$400,000, and plans to carry out rehabilitation works in the worst-hit

provinces such as Guizhou, Hubei, Shaanxi and Jiangxi.

Snowstorm Appeal", enter the amount of donation (in HK Dollars), and click "OK"

you enter "Warm Heart Group" in the Institution area, so that we might be able

to track the effectiveness of our action. Then select your language to pay by

credit card. Please note that usually there will be a charge of 1% - 3% for

international transactions depending on your credit card companies.

To make it clear, we don't have any personal connections with the World Vision

Hong Kong. We will keep searching for other charities and keep you posted on

this.

Again, as students living far far away from home, our input might not be

substantial enough, but there are no excuses for us to stay out of troubles on

our homeland. We shall never give up in front of any difficulties, because love

is what makes us strong.

[暖心贴] 为中国雪灾捐款倡议书

亲爱的祖国同胞们，

这是一封来自几名北美留学生的信。

大家都知道，今年一月中旬以来，中国的东部和南部遭受大面积冰雪严寒的侵袭，

近八千万人的生活受到影响，房屋倒塌十五万余间，道路受阻，断水断电，粮食供

应紧张……祖国面临极大的困难。身在海外的我们也许不能提供最直接的帮助，但

是，这不应该成为我们袖手旁观的借口。我们可以做的事还有很多，只要我们有热

血和善心。

为组织海外华人援助国内的灾民，我们发起了名叫"暖心贴"的活动并在Facebook上

成立了"Snow Storm in

China"小组，希望把这里作为一个平台，集结团体力量，

更新客观、及时、全面的灾情信息，并倡导为灾民募捐的行动。目前该小组成员数

量正在快速的增加。现在，我们诚恳地请求您加入我们，并做以下几件事：

1。尽量让所有人知道这次活动

请转发这封邮件给你认识的人和你参加的email

list，在你自己的blog里转贴这条

信息，在各大BBS上转贴。尽量让更多的人知道，不管是哪个国家的人。

到任何美国当地的有信誉保障的慈善团体为此次中国雪灾募捐。但是事情迫在眉

睫，在此，我们建议大家通过香港世界宣明会<http:

构，宣明会在香港有着很好的信誉和强大影响力。在这次雪灾中，他们反应迅速，

目前已经向内地捐款40万港币用作受灾最严重省份的灾后重建，包括贵州、湖北、

陕西、江西等省份。
