听说首都的那群家伙嘲笑罗马皇帝居然和一个女人开战，他们似乎以为我们是一男一女赤手空拳扭打。我可不是在和女人打仗，我面对的是武器和装备齐全的大军，只不过，他们的首领是个像男人一像勇敢的女人。……帕尔米拉守军的弓箭、投石器、标枪性能优秀，难以形容。城市周遭的城墙上，密密麻麻排满了投石器，射出毫不休止的炮弹。有时大型投石器还会投出带火的炮弹，一旦落地，四周就是一片火海。……话说回来，胜利一定是属于我们的，诸神总是眷顾罗马人，我相信这回祂们一定会协助我们，让罗马复兴。
