Many of you will have noted media reports that Queensland Health has confirmed the first case of H1N1 Influenza 09 (Human Swine) in Australia.
The World Health Organisation laboratory in Victoria confirmed a woman returning to Brisbane on QF16 from Los Angeles on Thursday 7 May tested “weak positive” to the human swine influenza. The case is considered to have been non-infectious on the flight and the person has made a full recovery.
However, because this is the first confirmed case in Australia, we took the precaution of contacting passengers sitting close to the woman during the flight.
There were 12 travellers from Queensland and 11 have been contacted and detailed messages have been left on the remaining passenger’s mobile phone, with no response as yet. We will continue to follow up until contact is made.
