            Hey pal,

            back to do some homework first before you ask such basic Qs regarding the mechanical soundness. Simply watch the airshow videos to see how your almighty F22 make high G maneuvers with constant moves of its horizontal tails. It's also a single piece fin similar to J20's vertical tail.If it is not ripped off on F22, why should be J20's? You may concern on other aspects of the aerodynamic design, but to challenge such a mechanic 101's sounds to make the point not from a qualified military professional.

              First, I may not be a military professional (not yet at least) but I have done my homework. For instance, the horizontal tails that you mentioned are elevators and are on every airplane and they must move in order for the plane to fly. What I was talking about is the vertical stabilizers, of which there are two on both the J-20 and the F-22, not one.

              In addition, I didn't praise the F-22 over the J-20 at all. I had such basic questions because they were a point of debate between myself and my friend. I'm sincerely interested in the questions I had and I'm not trying to force any agenda. Perhaps you should read what I wrote instead of reading into it and making me sound aggressive.

                Mechanically, all moving vertical tails and all moving horizontal tails are identical. So the "rip off" problem is non-issue. As I mentioned separately, such large deflection is not used for air combat maneuver, it is used as air brake. The fly-by-wire will limit the angle of deflection during maneuvering flight for all sorts of purposes, mostly for aerodynamic reasons, but also mechanical integrity. Twin tail can do many tricks that a single tail can't. If you are interested, we can talk more. On the other hand, there is no need to be modest about F-22. It is the best manned fighter, bar none, except maybe, just maybe, against J-20, which we have no credible data to compare against so is a moot point right now.

        F-117不大好算,那是无尾布局的V形尾,兼做平尾用的。连民航客机都全动平尾了,F-117不全动就不好意思见人了。

              怪我没问清楚,我本来的意思是问:这V形尾翼往外倾,并不垂直,为何很多时候还是称呼为“垂尾”?这个尾翼它当然具有立尾兼平尾的功能,但似乎还是称为---“外倾立尾”好理解些吧?就好似楼上河友“tinbbs”的称法---“大外倾立尾”比较合理些。
