If you were born after 80s, I can understand you may never feel the lack of (good) food. But if you were born in the mid 70s like me, you should still remember the time when there was not enough meat (unless your family was richer than 90%). Talk to your parents or grandparents, and you can easily learn about the years between 1949-1978, especially during the so-called 3-year natural disaster.
