Originally promoted as a competition with the intention of finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat situations, competitors were pitted against one another with minimal rules.[1] Later promoters adopted many additional rules aimed at increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance of the sport.[2]

原先这个运动用了最少的规则来模拟空手实战，后来为了运动员的安全，这个运动加了不少规则。

这个运动需要运动员在几个方面都很全面才行，要是站立非接触的能力不行，人家根本不需要跟你玩摔跤，可以直接击倒对手。我看过很多直接用腿把人踢倒的。Youtube上面很多例子。

摔跤功夫也非常重要，这个往往是决定性的，一旦被按到地上，反败为胜的机会就小了不少。

而能不能最终战胜对手，还要看地面扭打的能力。要是摔跤能力出色，但不能制服对手，也不能取胜。而地面能力强的，也能抵消摔跤能力的不足。
