The connectionwith NE Asia is very deep and indeed evident in North America as well as, and especially, in Middle (Meso-) America.

As for articles: the subject has long been considered an unacceptable one in in North American archaeology, for reasons that have little to do with the merits of the question. This it has been the result, rather, of a dislike for lack of concrete evidence, for reliance on historical surmise, and because it is, unfortunately, a tropic that has attracted many who know little of the facts beyond superficial resemblances.

It is difficult to create the right atmosphere for such inquiry in this country.

However, there is no question of the continuity at a conceptual level from NE Paleolithic Asia into the Americas. I believe there was another route of transmission to the Andes where there is also strong evidence, but of an interestingly different nature.

I am old enough to say all this without worrying about professional recrimination.

In Sichuan, I was interested to find how little Chinese graduate students know about the New World, and of possible connections between the two.
