SIM Open University Centre Attains Accreditation Status

Into its 10th year in partnership with the Open University of the UK (OUUK), the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) Open University Degree Programme (OUDP) has attained accreditation status of the university. Re-named the SIM Open University Centre, or SIM-OUC, the OUDP has been elevated from a programme to become an autonomous entity of the Institute.

Appropriate structural and related changes are being made to reflect the Centre’s new identity. These changes are in line with its new accredited institution status granted by the OUUK.

The evolution from a contractual arrangement to an accreditation relationship with the OUUK marks a significant and strategic milestone in SIM-OUC’s longer-term vision to further develop into an independent open university in Singapore. As an accredited institution, SIM-OUC will continue to offer programmes of high academic quality and rigour, which will be validated by the OUUK. The programmes and courses will be sourced from the OUUK, as well as developed in-house. The Centre will seek out new and relevant programmes and courses that meet the needs of working Singaporeans. The OUUK will continue to award the validated degrees.
