美国的驻外使领馆一般都有单独的机构对公民提供服务. 美国人在海外有事向驻外使领馆求助很常见, 包括我的几个同事.

家园 中国护照与居民身份证等同 我用护照在中行、浦发、深圳银行上海分行办过业务，从来没人说个不字。
中国的很多规章制度全凭个人临时发挥。办不通就换个地方。哪怕是“国内服务最好的银行”。
家园 2007年以后, 中国护照与居民身份证不等同 家园 您确认是07年后持新版护照？ 07版新护照上已经取消了身份证号，很多国内机构已经不再视其具有居民身份证功能了。如果直接持新护照是无法再当身份证用的。
06年如果用身份证号码定的票，持护照也可以登机，但是今年就有同事就被拒绝了。理由就是护照上没有身份证号，无法匹配。
家园 您的护照上是否有身份证号码？ 早期出国又是在我国驻外领馆更新的护照的话，护照上是没有身份证号码的。为此，我家LD每次回国兑换外币时也都要费一番唇舌的。
家园 我也拿护照在建行和工行开了户 没遇到任何困难，二话不说就开了。
这位遇到困难的，估计应该是撞到官僚体系作怪吧，跟护照不护照没特定的关系。
