I disagree. China has a very coherent ideology and at the moment it is the cult of Xi and absolute power for the CCP. I bet that almost every freaking tyrant, kleptocrat and oligarch on Earth would love to install their own version of China's deep surveillance state to keep their own people down.

I appreciate this rational article under the current radical right wing and delusional administration, which is creating a baseless hostile attitude toward China.

To say that the challenges with China are ideological or racial is nonsense. As always, we're talking about a competition of greed and power. Since the U.S. has walked away from its position as world leader, China has been more than happy to fill the vacuum. We should get used to that.
