I think if you ask experienced readers to pick top ten. Mo Yan will definitely be in the list. I'm not sure about top 3... But something very good about Mo Yan is that he made very consistent efforts and did make himself new. The depth counts if we are voting for a master. Liu Zhenyun might be the one comparable in this case.
