Generally speaking, Southerners are more sophisticated in food preparation and the Northerners, due to the lack of raw materials, are poor in cooking and food.

The same observation applies in Europe (between different nations) as well as in China (between Northern Chinese and Southern Chinese). But not in States since it is an immigrant nation.

BTW, inside Canada, you have the sophisticated Quebec vs. average English Canada. English provinces are a bit poorer in terms of food preparation.
