I live in Tennessee. A few years ago, I joined a yacht club (don't have a boat, and did not know how to sail). The first year I needed to pay $70/year, $140/year thereafter.

Being a member, I can get on other people's boats. Normally they need people to get on their boats, and they LOVE to teach you how to sail.

Any way, that is a cheap way to learn (buy a couple of books on sailing, too).
