mortality conditions now are not as good as they were in the early 1990’s. For example, while in 1993, infant mortality rate stood at 14 per 1000 live births, the figure increased to 19 by the year 2008. Meanwhile, maternal mortality ratio increased by about 30 percent, that is, from 54 to 77 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births.
