ConocoPhillips announced yesterday that it has entered into an agreement with Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Company to sell its 9.03 percent interest in Sxxx for $4.65 billion.

The transaction is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2010 once Canadian and Chinese government approvals are obtained. This deal will make Sinopec our fourth largest owner. It would also not be the first oil sands acquisition for Sinopec. The company is also 50 per cent joint-venture partner with Total SA in the Northern Lights oil sands project.

Until the sale is approved, ConocoPhillips remains the Sxxx owner of record.
