Today, many “people of Indian origin” in America and elsewhere are pushing for transparency and simpler regulations for foreign investors who want to start businesses in India. As India’s officials have responded, remittances and investment have soared.

The World Bank says foreign workers sent $328 billion from richer to poorer countries last year, more than double the $120 billion in official aid flows from OECD members. India got $52 billion from its diaspora, more than it took in foreign direct investment.

世界银行表示，外国工人去年从相对富裕国家向相对贫穷国家汇入3280亿美元，与经合组织成员国官方援助流入的1200亿美元相比，多出不止一倍。印度从其侨民中获得了520亿美元，超过其接收的国外直接投资。
