故有些人认为并传说是这位在美国担任教授的先生所作。经查，这是一位在台湾出生、受教育、长大的现在美国担任教授的先生。

后经本人声明，并非他所作，只是最开始他将这首诗发送给了不少朋友，引起了网络上的极大兴趣。真实作者已不可考。
