Actually, my friend, who captures birds and wild animals, likes high resolution CMOS since when he shoots birds, it looks very hard to locate the birds around the center since u will find that birds fly too fast to easily trace them by a handhold 600/4.0 or 400/2.8 lens. In that case, 24MB would be very helpful though 1DM3 is only 10MB.

However, for most of us, we seldom print out our photos on large posters, 24MB doesn't make any sense. I guess Canon must pay more attention on those pros, who make money by photos and do have money to purchase fancy gears. And so far, everyone might have to follow this or lose market.
