Subject: Company match for China Earthquake Relief donations

Hi Dear CEO,

As an XXX employee whose country at birth is suffering from the worst disaster in the past 30 years, I feel obligated to make a plea for the company to match employees’ donations.

The news has carried images of great loss of lives and massive destruction. Despite the swift disaster response, the need for help is both urgent and long lasting. I know many XXX employees are eager to help. While XXX now doesn’t have a standing policy to match employees’ donations, this is an opportunity to send a good will to the Chinese people, who now represent the largest <Product ABC> and second largest <Product XYZ> market. As XXX expands its footprint in China, the humanitarian assistance will help convey XXX’s identity of making the positive changes in the world. “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. Knowing the culture, I can assure that the Chinese people remember and reciprocate those lending a helping hand in the most critical time.

Shall XXX feel it is better to keep a low profile on its assistance, I will volunteer myself to work with HR and inform who ever makes donations not to disclose the company match internally or externally.

No matter what is the final decision, both earthquake victims and eager-to-help employees will be grateful for your invaluable time.
